VUGS Information series

VUGS (Verein zur Unterstützung der Gebärdensprache) is a non-profit association that was originally founded in 1983 to support the work of the FZG and later expanded its activities to include the general promotion of research and information in the field of sign language and Deaf culture. In the years that followed, the association published 48 booklets in an information series written by Boyes Braem as well as other deaf and hearing authors. Particularly in the early years, these booklets were almost the only regular source of information in German-speaking Switzerland on the subject of sign language research. The association was dissolved in 2015 when the members concluded that, by that time, there were already many other sources of this kind of information available on sign languages and Deaf culture. |
